Most of the Shoals is under trees. Oaks drop tassels in April and leaves in November, pines drop needles all year, and along Wilson Lake the canopy is close to total. A gutter under that fills faster than a gutter anywhere else, and a full gutter does the opposite of its job: water runs over the front edge, down the fascia, and into the ground right at the foundation.
The fix is not clever. Someone goes up, scoops it out by hand, flushes the downspouts until they run clear, and bags what came out instead of leaving it in your flower bed. What makes it worth paying for is that it happens before the overflow, not after.
How it is done. The gutters get cleared by hand from a ladder, run by run, with the debris bagged as it comes out. The downspouts get flushed with a hose until water runs free at the bottom, and any that will not clear get worked from both ends. While we are up there, loose hangers, standing water and pitch problems get noted and told to you straight.

It is not a once a decade job here
Under a Shoals oak, a gutter that was empty in May is full by Thanksgiving. Anyone telling you a single clean will hold for years has not looked up at your trees. Twice a year at least, or on the plan and it never gets full in the first place.
Real jobs, shot the day of.

How the visit goes
Walk the roofline
Every run gets looked at from the ground first: where it overflows, where a downspout has been dry in the rain, where the fascia is stained.
Scoop it out
From the ladder, by hand, into a bucket. Nothing gets blown into the yard or left on the roof to wash back in.
Flush the downspouts
Hose in the top, water out the bottom. A downspout that will not run gets worked until it does.
Tell you what we saw
Loose hangers, a run pitched the wrong way, a spot that holds water. You hear about it the same day, with a photo when it helps.
Gutter cleaning is 10 to 20% off on the plan
The plan is the monthly upkeep most people never get round to: web sweep, wasp removal, trash bin cleaning, gutter inspection, light perimeter debris cleanup, from $59 a month with the same person every visit. Being on it takes 10 to 20% off gutter cleaning and anything else you book, and the higher tiers fold the seasonal work in. See the three tiers →
Or just the one visit, full price, no plan needed. Call or text 256-415-7878.
What we know about gutter cleaning here.
What a full gutter actually does
Water that cannot get to the downspout goes over the front lip and down the fascia, which is why the paint peels there first. It lands at the foundation, which is red clay here, and clay holds water against the block. Add a winter freeze and you have the start of a crack. The gutter cost a few hundred dollars. The foundation did not.
Oak tassels are the one people miss
Everyone cleans gutters in the fall. The spring flush of oak tassels and pollen strings is finer and packs down into a wet mat that seals the downspout opening. It is the reason a gutter cleaned in November overflows in May.
Lake houses and pine
Around Wilson Lake in Killen and Muscle Shoals the canopy is pine as much as oak, and pine needles do not wait for a season. They fall all year, they knit together, and they slide into the downspout as a plug. Lake houses need the gutters looked at more often than the calendar says.
Gutter cleaning questions, answered.
The things Florence homeowners ask about gutter cleaning before the first visit. If yours is not here, call or text and the owner picks up.
01How often do gutters need cleaning here?
Under trees, twice a year is the floor and more is normal: after the spring tassels and after the fall leaves, with pine needles in between. On a monthly plan they simply never get full. If water is running over the front edge in a storm, it is already late.
02Do you take the debris away?
Yes. It gets bagged as it comes out of the gutter and leaves on the truck. It does not get blown into the yard or left on the roof to wash straight back in.
03Can you tell if my gutters are damaged?
We will tell you what we see: loose hangers, a run pitched the wrong way, standing water, rust. We are not a gutter installer, so you get the plain observation and a photo, not a sales pitch.
04What if I have gutter guards?
They come off, the gutter gets cleared, they go back on. Say so when you ask for the quote, because it changes the time.
